Clouds of Crisis or Change?

Spend any time at your favorite news outlet lately and you're liable to walk away feeling discouraged and searching for a bottle of Tylenol or Advil. It seems as if we’ve become a nation of thin-skinned partisans who think its okay to rant and rave about what the other political party did or didn't do! Mind you, as an olive-skinned Sicilian transplant, I've never lacked an opinion. In fact, on most days I can give you several! But as an American, we need to stop fixating on the negative and start looking to the brilliant sun that lies above our cloudy circumstances.

Some are convinced we're in a constitutional crisis. Others are so wrapped up in conspiracy theories that their feet literally never touch the ground. Come on!

We are NOT a divided people but we are a nation going through change and we need to pull together, respect each other’s opinions, and pray that our elected leaders make the right choices. That’s our responsibility as citizens.

At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a woman famously asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well Doctor, what have we got--a Republic or a Monarchy?” His reply, “A Republic, it you can keep it.” Let’s make sure we keep it!
